Privacy Policy — Family Tree

Building great apps starts with trust. This page explains, in plain language, what Family Tree (internally Clan) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Khoakaka, the maker of Family Tree on Android, iOS and the Web.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or with email and password, we receive your user ID, email address, display name and profile picture.
Your clan content. Anything you create in the app — members, relationships, photos, notes, CSV imports — is saved on your behalf so you and your invited relatives can see and edit it across devices.
Subscription status. If you buy a premium plan, we receive whether your subscription is active and which platform issued it. We never see your payment card details.
Diagnostics. Crash reports and basic technical logs help us keep the app stable.

How we use it

We use this information only to:

Run, secure and improve Family Tree.
Sign you in and protect your account.
Sync your clan across your devices and the relatives you invite.
Answer your support requests.
Comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your clan content to train AI models or to show you ads.

Who can see your content

Your clan content is visible only to the people you invite, and only at the permission level you grant them (admin, editor or viewer).

We share data with a small number of trusted service providers that help us run the app:

Google Firebase — sign-in, database (Cloud Firestore) and photo storage (Cloud Storage).
Google Play and Apple App Store — handle your subscription billing.
Crash reporting tools — anonymous diagnostics only.

We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect users from serious harm.

Where your data lives

Your data is processed on Google Cloud infrastructure used by Firebase. That may include locations outside your country. The providers we use maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

Your data, your choice

You can:

See and edit your account and clan information directly in the app.
Export your members as a CSV at any time.
Delete your account, which removes the clans you own and your personal data within a reasonable period.

Children

Family Tree is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared information with us, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest through Firebase. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data and to fix issues quickly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, notify you in the app.
